Who Are They?
If you tried to look up details about Direct Holidays online, you would struggle to find much about their history, their creation and their deals. Why is this? Because they are another company which is part of the Thomas Cook name, so the ‘about-us’ section simply points to the Thomas Cook ‘about-us’ page.
Being part of the Thomas Cook family does mean there is a very high level of security when it comes to trust and reliability, while they are also ATOL and ABTA financially protected (ABTA =V6896, ATOL = 1179).
Where Can I Go?
You can pretty much go anywhere with Direct Holidays, from European city breaks and beach holidays to long distance adventures to locations such as Vegas, Mexico, Cuba, Jamaica and St Lucia. Some of their best selling destinations include Turkey, Tenerife, Lanzarote, Tunisia and Gran Canaria.
It is worth checking out their last minute deals to see if there are any bargains, however in general I would try to book a holiday a good 7-8 months before you plan on going away. Much earlier and they won’t yet be available but much later and the prices would have hiked up. Prices do tend to increase for summer holidays in January, so try to book your next summer trip in November or December.
Direct Holidays use a wide range of providers, so make sure you also investigate the actual airlines and companies which are used. For example, you might not be so keen on Easyjet, whereas you might not know too much about the others available.
I would have to say their strength really is in package holidays, as they combine the best priced flights with the greatest accommodation you can get within your set budget, as they will tailor make you a holiday to suit everything you want. They can even tailor you a trip to Lapland to see the Northern Lights and to go husky sledding.
Writing the reviews section for tour operators is difficult as they all pretty much have a bad score, as people don’t often write reviews following a good experience, they only want to share when they are venting their anger. On Reviewcentre Direct Holidays scored 1.9 out of 5 based on 52 reviews, not a great scoreline!
There really isn’t much else online in regards to other reviews. I have used Direct holidays myself a few times and found them to be completely fine. The staff weren’t always the most knowledgable, but they were friendly and helped me to book a trip to Sharm El Sheikh, of which I could have no complaints.
