Dublin became the capital of the Irish Free State back in 1922, while it is now one of the most popular tourist destinations in Europe, albeit the prices are reaching ridiculous amounts. I’ve always been proud to show off that Brighton has enough pubs for one per day of the year, however Dublin makes me look daft, as it has over 650 pubs! The oldest pub, therefore always worth a visit, is the Brazen Head, which looks very historic with its brick layout. Many don’t realise the strong Viking history of Dublin, established in the ninth century as the ‘Norse kingdom of Dublin’. There are so many things to do in Dublin and places to see, including the Guinness storehouse, Temple bar, the castle, Phoenix park, the Old Jameson distillery, the Spire and St Patricks cathedral. Dublin also hosts arguably the only bridge in Europe that is as wide as it is long with the O’Connell Bridge. Of course, you might not be able to tell with all the buses going along this road. Also, if the hangover isn’t too intense on your trip, you should also have a quick look over in the Trinity College Library. It doesn’t matter if you don’t want to have a read, it’s more to take in the layout and the style of the place.
