There are so many things to do in Bristol, such as the Clifton Suspension Bridge, the Brunel’s SS Great Britain, Bristol Zoo and Bristol Museum. I promise to write more articles than just getting drunk in Bristol. In fact, my friend plans on getting married in Bristol zoo, something I didn’t think was possible but they have informed me it is surprisingly cheap to do so! Our American friends might not know much about Bristol, however it is thought of as the ‘Birthplace of America’, considering this is where John Cabot sailed from when he ‘discovered’ North America in 1497. There are in fact a huge amount of states that have a city named Bristol in them, with one of the most well known being in Tennessee. That wasn’t the only big name in history from Bristol however, as Captain Blackbeard was also a famous resident, which now means there are quite a few pirate tours of the city. You can still visit Captain Blackbeards home and birthplace. I won’t stop there. Cary Grant, one of the most famous American actors of all time was actually born in Bristol and went to school there, before getting attracted to the bright lights of Hollywood. It’s also one of the best places in the West Country to get a good plate of food, having five Michelin starred restaurants!
