Phuket is arguably the party capital of Thailand, with people drinking crazy cocktails down Bangla road and bar hopping, which is a great thing to do while you’re there. Most of the party goers will end up around Patong beach, where there are a number of clubs, bars and strip clubs. Beside the party lifestyle, there is so much more to see, such as Krabi, Khao Rang and the Phuket sunday night market. The beauty of the island is often overlooked, however it certainly shouldn’t be. The actual name Phuket translates to the Mountain Jewel, while 70% of the island is covered in mountains. Many are surprised by the size of Phuket, the largest island in Thailand and almost the same size as Singapore. Beyond the wild Patong beach, there are a total of 36 beaches, therefore you can find somewhere more calm for a little tranquillity if that is what you’re after. If you’re a vegetarian then you might want to time your visit with the 8 day long vegetarian festival they celebrate.
