Bolivia

This is one of my favourite countries in the world. From the incredibly fun Uyuni salt flats, to the devilish witch markets, your to-do list will be never ending. Experience cocaine legally in a bar in La Paz, climb the Illimani mountain, go anaconda hunting in the rainforest, look at the outside of San Pedro prison and read the stories and learn English in Sucre. I spent 2 weeks here, but I would have loved to have spent a few months learning Spanish and exploring this curious country. 77% of the country has a christian belief, while it was conquered by Spain back in the 16th century. Easily one of the most bizarre countries I’ve visited, I spent one afternoon watching Cholita wrestling with a beer in hand. But for the wild tourists, a ride down death road should be top of your list of things to do before you die. While this is an unofficial fact, La Paz is the highest capital city in the world. The extreme heights of Bolivia is one reason that, despite having a terrible football team, they can sometimes cause upsets, as the opposing team tend to get altitude sickness when visiting. As you may know, when going to a much greater altitude, they recommend against exercising too much after arriving, so I guess 90 minutes of football should be ruled out. For this reason, when visiting the area, it is best to travel gradually to higher cities, which is what I did in Peru before reaching Bolivia, meaning there was no adjustment.
