My school friend Matt, my old work buddy Andy, it seems everyone has been heading to Dubai over the past 12 months. The image of Dubai has evolved over the past decade and people now see it as a top holiday destination, something that makes me curious, as I’ve never made it over there (yet).
If people think of a romantic location, the mind generally wonders to Paris (well, it doesn’t for me, having gone a number of times, it’s an amazing place but far from romantic), or the canals of Venice, or maybe somewhere in Italy. Definitely somewhere in Italy, that one is spot on, even just for the stunning food and beaches.
But lately people have been heading for romantic breaks or honeymoons to Dubai. The area is famous for skyscrapers and shopping malls, but is there far more than that, whether it’s sunsets in the desert, quiet dinners above the city and driving along smooth highways at night.
You can’t help but bring up the supercars, something I know many people head over there for, including my old driving instructor, who talked about being captivated by the idea of a Lamborghini rental Dubai to explore the city privately, without depending on taxis and strict schedules. It changes the feeling completely and makes the trip more personal, being able to go where you want in extreme style.
Both Europe and Dubai offer romance, but they do it in very different ways, that’s for sure.

The Emotional Charm of Romantic Europe
Of course Europe is a key area for people wanting a romantic break, whether they’re from the Americas, across Asia, Africa, or indeed from somewhere within Europe. I’ve explored about 20 European countries and it’s certainly somewhere I’d recommend for those looking for a couple’s holiday. Some of the main reasons why people opt for this continent is because:
- The food is exquisite, whether you’re in Italy, France or Portugal, making a trip to a restaurant a real nice treat.
- You have beautiful cobbled streets in many countries, which always looks so sweet, maybe thanks to movies
- The stunning old architecture has stood the test of time and provides for some amazing views
- A simple activity like a coffee in a cafe can feel really romantic
- You have some brilliant plazas where you can relax during the day, gathering plenty of couple’s and holiday makers.
- The wine culture, with plenty of vineyards, makes for some amazing couple experiences, as you can go on a winery tour
So where are the most romantic places in Europe? Well I’ve included some top spots below, leaving out Paris, as I just don’t feel it qualifies.
- Lake Garda: The largest lake in Italy sits close to the Dolomites, making it an ideal spot for those that enjoy hiking but also want a beautiful view when relaxing.
- Santorini: The crowds might be slightly tainting Santorini nowadays, but the views of the white buildings and blue rooftops is certainly a sight to see. It’s where my cousin Toby got married, while it’s one of the most popular honeymoon destinations.
- Lake Bled: This Slovenian area looks like something out of a fairytale, I’m yet to go but me and Raquel have discussed it maybe 12 times and keep almost booking it.
- Venice: I mentioned the crowds of Santorini, well you step it up a notch with Venice. It’s inevitably one of the most romantic places in the world, providing you don’t mind dealing with those huge groups of tourists.
- Dubrovnik: Ok, this has always been a stunning old town, but since Game of Thrones, it’s now popular with tourists who want to see the beautiful scenery (shame, shame, shame, you know the scene I mean).
Europe is stunning, but there are certain limits to this continent as well. Transport can be
inconvenient depending on where you go. Taxis are very expensive and some will try to scam you, so you do have to be careful. Trains can be over-crowded and might not run on time (well, they will most likely be late if you come to England). Sometimes you lose hours just moving between places, especially in Barcelona where the different landmarks and sights are spread about, making the transition time quite significant (hence why a hop on hop off bus is so useful).

How Dubai Offers Romance With A Side Of Privacy
Dubai represents a completely different type of romantic experience to the previously mentioned European destinations. It is definitely not a quiet place to visit, at least not in the traditional sense,
but it has its own advantages. One of them is the ability to get privacy for you and your partner. Everything is designed to be smooth and comfortable, with all the luxurious angles considered and provided (providing you have the budget).
One of the biggest differences is transport, if you have a car rented out then the city lights up and you can get where ever you want with ease, no busy traffic jams. Night drives become part of the experience. You can leave the busy city center and find some quieter pockets near the marina or desert area.
Services like Trinity Rental make this part easier. Their fleet includes Luxury, Premium, and Exotic cars, including very new models with minimal mileage. For couples, this creates a different experience compared to standard transport. The car becomes part of your holiday experience, which you’re going to talk about when you get back home, plus all the pics you’ll be sharing on social. There are a number of benefits to using this service, such as:
● The car can be delivered to any place you like to be collected. No picking up from long queues in airport rental services, you can just ask for it to be taken to your hotel if you like, or outside the airport if that is the best option for you.
● You do not pay for the first fill up of petrol, because it is already provided with the car for free. That means you can jump right in and drive off straight away.
● 300km daily mileage is included, which is enough to move to any point within the city, meaning you don’t have to worry about hitting any limits.
● If you have any questions, you can contact the personal manager that is provided for you
● You can even rent a car with a driver, so you can relax in the back while someone does all the work taking you around town, ideal if you don’t drive or simply don’t fancy it while in a new area and on holiday.
